About your health counselor
Like many of you, my background has its roots in Corporate America. I've worked in the technology field for over 20 years and hold a BSBA and Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. Recently, a favorite interest of mine, health & wellness, came to the forefront when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I was prescribed Synthroid to take every day for the rest of my life. I thought "what a drag" but began my daily regimen without question until I ran across some information that suggested thyroid dysfunction can be healed through proper diet and stress management. This started my quest for more knowledge regarding nutrition and lifestyle management. (I'm also a mom so of course wanted to provide better food for my family!)
The more I discovered, the more I wanted to share information and techniques with others, especially overwhelmed, professional parents like me. And the rest is history.
I received my certification to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, affiliated with Columbia University's Teachers College in New York City, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts such as, but not limited to, the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. I am also board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practioners.
With the prevalence of mass media constantly marketing the Standard American Diet (SAD), it is my goal to provide clarity and support around eating well and to instill the confidence to choose clean, healthy food for youand family.
Yours in health,
